With COVID-19 on the rise, many holiday traditions will look different for us this year. We won’t be able to gather with friends and family in person, attend parties or exchange gifts. That doesn’t mean you can’t make great memories and start new traditions! Below are some safe and fun ideas to get you in the holiday spirit this year.
Take a neighborhood light “tour”
Grab some hot cocoa, put on your favorite Christmas playlist and take a night drive through your neighborhood. Check your town newspaper or Facebook pages for a list of “must-see” houses. You can make it a competition and play Christmas light “BINGO.”
Drink some tea and tell your favorite holiday stories
Shop our tea selection and cozy up by the fireplace with your family. Read holiday-themed children’s books or share your favorite holiday stories together while making memories that will last a lifetime.
Host a Zoom gathering with friends and family
We may not be able to be physically together this year, but we can still spend quality time virtually. Use a service such as FaceTime, Zoom or Skype to video chat with friends and family. Share stories, a meal or play a virtual game!
Try a new dish
This is the perfect time to stay home and cook a comforting meal you’ve always been wanting to try! Try a family favorite or visit our website for something new! We recommend traditional Indian Corn Soup or hearty Bison Loaf.
Make cards for elders in your area
It’s the season of giving and spreading love! Reach out to your local community center or nursing homes and ask how you can get involved by making cards for elders in your area. This small but thoughtful gesture is sure to bring a smile to someone’s face.
Give back to your community
Many people may have struggled this year and might need a little extra help during the holidays. Contact your local community center and see how you can get involved, whether it’s shoveling snow for someone in need or donating money or gifts to a local family.
