What do you do at SweetGrass?
I am the account and brand manager at SweetGrass Trading Company. I help the team find new vendors and handle the onboarding process to bring new vendors on. I am also in charge of wholesale account management and find new wholesale account to work with us. In addition, I write blog posts, create monthly newsletters, help with website management and assist the social media team. A big project I recently led was filming recipe videos using products you can find in our online store.
In addition to account management, I also represent SweetGrass at conferences and tradeshows. I love telling others about the great things we’re doing at SweetGrass and how we support small Native businesses and make Native products accessible to a larger market.
What is your favorite blog post you’ve written and why?
I enjoy all of the “Interview with an Indigenous Chef” blog posts. I always learn something new from talking to indigenous chefs. I got to get on a Zoom call with the “Sioux Chef” Sean Sherman and talk about indigenous food systems, revitalizing traditions through food and how to make Native food more accessible. That memory stands out to me because I knew about Chef Sherman prior to getting this job and never imagined I’d be interviewing him for a story!
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about protecting Mother Earth by recycling, reducing single use plastics, and educating others on why these topics are so important. I also enjoy promoting Native businesses, both small and large, through my position at SweetGrass. I love telling the stories of the small Native businesses we work with and the great people behind those businesses.
What do you like to do in your free time?
When I’m not working, I enjoy podcasting with friends, kayaking, camping, reading and watching scary movies on Netflix with my husband and our cat, Max.
