Ho-Chunk, Inc. is proud to announce that the 2024 recipient of the Ho-Chunk Way Employee Donations Program is Winnebago Wildlife and Parks.

This year, donations to Ho-Chunk Way will play a crucial role in supporting the development of Big Bear Park, transforming it into a vibrant community gathering space. Big Bear Park holds deep historical significance, as it is a place where the ancestors of the Winnebago Tribe once walked. The revitalization of this park is not only about preserving history but also about creating a space where the community can come together to connect with the earth, engage in outdoor recreational activities, and practice cultural teachings.

The planned revitalization of Big Bear Park will include the construction of a shelter, the installation of a natural play structure, and the addition of picnic tables, benches, fire pits, trash receptacles, and signage. These enhancements will provide a welcoming environment for community members of all ages to gather, play, and learn. By supporting Winnebago Wildlife and Parks through the Ho-Chunk Way Employee Donations Program, we are helping to create a space that honors the past while fostering connections within the community for generations to come.

Ho-Chunk, Inc. started the Ho-Chunk Way Employee Donations Program in 2017 as part of its mission to improve the quality of life for the Winnebago community. Since its inception, the program has raised more than $230,000 for various Winnebago organizations.

The selection of Winnebago Wildlife and Parks as this year’s recipient highlights the ongoing commitment to preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the Winnebago Tribe while supporting initiatives that benefit the community at large.
