Ho-Chunk, Inc. is excited to announce the new annual recipient of the Ho-Chunk Way Employee Donations Program! The 2022 recipient is the Winnebago Tribal Farm.
The Winnebago Tribal Farm is creating a local, sustainable food system by growing and providing fresh foods to the people of the Winnebago community. In one year, the nonprofit gave away over 1,000 pounds of produce through community programs, starting with ones that focus on youth and elders.
For the 2022-2023 program cycle, donations to Ho-Chunk Way will help expand farm operations, purchase food storage equipment, and make facility updates. Sights are set on increasing egg and meat production, in addition to providing classes on cooking, canning, beekeeping, gardening and more. All of these initiatives work together to advance food sovereignty.
Ho-Chunk, Inc. started the Ho-Chunk Way Employee Donations Program in 2017. It builds on the company’s mission to provide a better quality of life for the Winnebago community. Since its inception, Ho-Chunk Way has raised more than $230,000 for Winnebago organizations.
Past recipients of the program include the Winnebago Senior Center, Boys & Girls Club of the Hōcąk Nisoc Haci, Ho-Chunk Renaissance, the Winnebago Youth Shelter, and the Whirling Thunder Wellness Program.
SweetGrass Trading Co. Is a division of Ho-Chunk Trading Group, a subsidiary of Ho-Chunk, Inc., the economic development arm of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.
