Nemi Snacks recently won the prestigious NEXTY Award for Best Salty Snack at Expo West, the largest food and beverage trade show in the U.S. The NEXTY Awards recognize innovation, inspiration, integrity, and excellence in the natural food space, and Nemi Snacks Pickled Jalapeño was chosen as the best salty snack in one of the most competitive categories out of hundreds of nominations.

“Winning the NEXTY Award at Expo West 2024 was the validation and push to keep growing aligned with our values and mission,” Regina Trillo, founder of Nemi, said. “This award also opens the door to more representation as it was the first-time brands without a booth at Expo were allowed to participate in the competition.”

So, what sets Nemi Snacks apart from the rest? It all starts with Trillo, a Mexican native who founded Nemi in 2019. Regina’s vision was born out of a frustration with the lack of authentic representation in the “ethnic” aisle of grocery stores. She found that many well-established brands were using questionable ingredients that didn’t accurately reflect Mexican culture. Determined to make a change, Regina set out to create a brand that celebrates her culture while prioritizing quality and authenticity.

Located in Chicago, Nemi is about more than just creating delicious, natural snacks. In Náhuatl, the Aztec language, Nemi means “to live.” This embodies Nemi’s commitment to not only nourishing our bodies but also nourishing the planet. That’s why Nemi snacks are made with amaranth seeds and nopal (cactus), both of which are drought-resistant and good for Mother Earth. Nemi also partners with small independent farmers in Mexico and works with women of color to create economic opportunities and support local communities.

With Nemi Cactus Sticks Pickled Jalapeño, you’re not just getting a tasty snack – you’re joining a movement. A movement to celebrate culture, promote sustainability, and empower communities.
