Stay cool this summer with herbal iced tea

Last June, SweetGrass Trading launched a new line of loose-leaf herbal teas, which are now available to purchase on our website. Our herbal teas can be served hot or cold, making them the perfect refreshing beverage any time of the year.

The tea comes in six delicious flavors: alfalfa spearmint, apricot-cinnamon, cinnamon cardamom, hibiscus peppermint, juniper berry and peppermint chamomile — all packed with love on reservation of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.

How to make herbal iced tea

Follow these simple steps to create a thirst-quenching treat:

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients

1 tablespoon of loose-leaf tea (adjust according to your taste preferences)
2 cups of filtered water
Ice cubes
Sweeteners (optional)
Slices of lemon, lime, or fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Step 2: Brew the Tea

Boil the filtered water and allow it to cool for a minute or two.
Add the loose-leaf tea to a tea infuser or teapot.
Pour the hot water over the tea leaves and let it steep for the recommended time according to the tea type (usually 3-5 minutes).

Step 3: Chill and Sweeten

Remove the tea leaves or strain the brewed tea into a heat-resistant container.
If you prefer sweetened iced tea, add your desired sweetener while the tea is still warm. Stir until dissolved.
Let the tea cool to room temperature, then place it in the refrigerator to chill for at least 1-2 hours.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

Fill a glass with ice cubes.
Pour the chilled tea over the ice.
Garnish with lemon or lime slices, fresh herbs, or any other desired toppings.
Give it a gentle stir and take a moment to savor the refreshing flavors.
